Artist Study
Chrissie White is a 15 year old photographer whose work was made famous with the help of the internet. She was born in Seattle Washington; both of her parents are engineers. She is one of three triplets; none of them want to follow in their parents’ footsteps. Chrissie’s sister is a dancer who’s interested in painting. And her brother writes his own computer programs. After posting her photos on Flickr, large amounts of feedback poured in. The young artist was praised by many, but the suggestions from others are what inspired her. After high school Chrissie plans to get as far away from home as possible, she plans on going to college in New York.
Her photos reflect the world through the eyes of a 15 year old. The young artist uses her age to her advantage. Her mediums can range anywhere from duck tape to acrylic paint. Chrissie gets inspiration from her everyday life. She tries to portray her personal life experiences in her photographs.
Even though Chrissie is only 15 years old she takes inspirational photographs. I find it easy to connect with her art because she is also a teen and her photos are taken with a teen prospective. Each photo is unique and portrays its own powerful message. I also like the way Chrissie advertised herself by using the internet. This makes her artwork easily accessible.
